A place to learn a new language, the Koehler Method of Dog Training, which is an entire language of communication between owner(s) and their dog. Let the journey begin.
This is so hard on your back, Nancy. First suggestion is to heel her up unto the KLimb with the legs at full height. You walk beside the KLimb Place Board. Then do the Down.
Second suggestion is to use the KLimb, one on the beginning and the end of a new Training Table surface. See those white benches pushed against the deck rail? Clear out an area so you can use those white benches pushed together to make one long Training Table against the railing. The KLimb place Boards wi be used, one on each end, so Sofie is able to heel up onto the white bench and heel off the white bench. Does that make sense? Heel her up on the white bench and do an immediate Halt with you beside her. Then do the Down. Do an EF, repeat the Down, do an EF..etc., until you are and the other end of the white bench and heel her off to an EF. Does that make sense? This will save your back and prevent the repetitive flaring.
Great idea! I will try it very soon. I'm stuck at home today with Kaitlin and her nurse doing IVIG. Megan is working and Mike and Sean are doing a 5K run fundraiser for our local homeless shelter in town, with free beer at the Peekskill Brewery afterwards!! Of course, ginger ale for Sean.
