A place to learn a new language, the Koehler Method of Dog Training, which is an entire language of communication between owner(s) and their dog. Let the journey begin.
Actually this IS a pass, but I think you can do better with some pointers.
Pointers: 1) Don't SWING your left leg as you turn right. Instead, plant that left leg at a 45 degree angle towards the right and shift your weight from your right foot (which should be on the ball of your right foot doing a slight 'push forward'. THEN, once your weight has shifted to the left leg, your right foot takes a small baby step at a 90 degree angle, the 'J' loop of the leash catches below your left knee which then takes a normal step. This is the correct Right Turn. 2) Use your Pace changes MORE. 3) On the Stand, take away your forearm and simply do the Conditioned Relaxation Stroke with Sofie. If she moves, then do an EF (Exercise Finish). She is responsible to maintain her Stand once you command her to do so.
Auto Sits are quite lovely, as is Sofie, heeling is MUCH better and there were moments when she checked in with you while heeling and maintained her Heel position.
Going to upload a Week 2 video on me working with 'Fido' to help you with your turns.
OK. Thanks! I will practice the turns again tomorrow with more pace changes. When I do the stand and take away my forearm, what if she moves and I do an EF under the minute? Thanks again for the encouragement! Really appreciate it. Shall I video this exam again? Thanks! Nancy P.S. While I didn't think there would be too many distractions in this location, I find that she gets very easily distracted still, from the bugs, the noises coming from the woods and nearby houses, things that catch her attention on the ground, etc. Is this normal for a dog to be so distracted? Or, do I just need to practice more. Honestly, I think I do better without Sean videotaping because he gets me upset and then I can't concentrate.
