A place to learn a new language, the Koehler Method of Dog Training, which is an entire language of communication between owner(s) and their dog. Let the journey begin.
Put your right foot directly in FRONT of the dogs front feet, and I mean within 4-6", then command 'Stand' and the dog will learn to 'kick-back' with its front feet remaining stationary. In time, the command "Stand" with the hand signal of right hand in front of dog's nose, approximately 6-8" (so the dog can see it) palm towards the dog, right thumb towards the sky, the right foot barely in front of the dog's front feet = a perfect Stand on command. This then becomes the foundation for future advanced work, the Signal Stand done in Utility.
Every tiny move, every mechanic I teach is not only for immediate success for that specific exercise, it is often a mechanic that can be easily morphed into another more advanced exercise. So each one of those tiny mechanics NOW are also the FUTURE.
