A place to learn a new language, the Koehler Method of Dog Training, which is an entire language of communication between owner(s) and their dog. Let the journey begin.
more ecollar w/ stephanie; it was upsetting to see poor sofie yelp out and turn in circles confused and scared. she was really zonked this afternoon. hope you are well out there in utah! thinking of sugar bear! hugs N
The spinning is indicative of a confused dog. Use the ck cord to pull her into you. Shorter distances so you can build understanding, confidence and muscle memory. "Less done well is far, FAR better than more done poorly. " so shorter distances, pull on the ck cord, less ecollar pressure.
Do not be afraid of the ecollar pressure as you have been using 'collar pressure' since Mannerly Puppy. Just understand that this is a NEW pressure, o e Sofie hasn't connected the mental dots yet to understand she has the power, just like the leash pressure, to turn OFF the NEW pressure by obeying a known command. Build confidence, understanding and muscle memory first as you teach this New pressure. Sofie will get to where she won't leave your side for a while and that is common when first introducing the ecollar. Breathe. Help her understand she has the power to turn off this Mew pressure by promptly obeying the command given. Does that make sense?
